In-Depth Scene Work

Starting on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 *8 Weeks* 7:00pm - 10:00pm Term ends on June 25, 2025 IN-DEPTH SCENE WORK FOR WORKING ACTORS with Lisa Durupt Must complete Intro to Acting or have permission from instructor. This class is for adults (with some experience) who want to focus on in-depth scene work. This class will allow actors to go deeper into their work while giving them a practical game plan to create completely truthful, honest work, in a short time frame. As a hybrid of both Scene Study and On-Camera Audition classes, students will work on a scene with a partner for 2 weeks, at a time. *Weekly attendance & punctuality are expected. *STUDENTS WITH NO EXPERIENCE are recommended to take ‘An Actor Begins’' first. Acting Funny

Starting on Saturday, April 5, 2025 2:00pm - 5:00pm Term ends on June 28, 2025 *NO CLASS EASTER WEEKEND* ACTING FUNNY With Lauren McGibbon Intermediate (must complete intro to Acting or have permission from instructor.) Comedy has come to Vancouver’s Film and TV industry (Animal Control, Rambler, The Chicken Sisters!) so it’s time to let go of your fears and expand your bookability "But I'm not that FUNNY!" you cry, panicked, palms sweaty...GULP! Great news: If you are a human being then YOU'RE ALREADY HILARIOUS. You just don't know it yet! Lauren McGibbon (Trial and Error, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Scaredy Cats) brings her 20 year live comedy performance and on set sitcom experience to this 12-week course that is designed to teach students: - How to Break Down the Script and MAXIMISE the Funny in your auditions. - The technicalities of bringing a comedic script to life while maintaining a grounded and honest performance - Commitment to the Present moment, listening skills, and physical comedy. - Rhythm and Pace for Ensemble Acting and how to “KEEP IT GROUNDED! THE TONE IS VERY REAL!” We move from 3 cam sitcoms through single cam, dramedy for TV & end on Funny Films. Scenes will be worked on Two Weeks at a time, first week on their feet learning all the skills and the second week on Camera to learn how to best translate and capture all that is funny for the audition submission. The Play’s the Thing - Long Form Scene Study with Live Performance

Starting on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 6:00pm - 9:00pm Term ends on June 24, 2025 THE PLAY'S THE THING - LONG FORM SCENE STUDY WITH LIVE PERFORMANCE with Lauren McGibbon Intermediate (For students that have completed Tricities Intro to Acting or by assessment of skills and experience by the instructor.) Every actor dreams of being number 1 on the call sheet: Walter White in Breaking Bad or Viola Davis in How to Get Away with Murder. Few have thought through what that actually entails: a whole lot of work, top-level professionalism and stamina. This class is here to push our teammates to take ownership and responsibility in building their character from the ground up. Hence, they are skilled, collaborative, and ready to bring a director's vision to life. Working with scenes from renowned and sophisticated playwrights, Lauren McGibbon brings her experience from stage and screen to teach the rehearsal process, vocal and movement craft, script analysis and live performance technique so you, the actor, leave the class knowing exactly how to bring whichever character comes across your audition notice in box to life. The class culminates in a live performance!

Building on the foundations of Improv for Actors, Lauren McGibbon is bringing students to the next level of their improv journey. Focused on long-form improv and applying improv tools to scene work for actors, this class, as always, emphasizes laughter and teamwork.
KICK A&% AUDITION WORK OUT
Wednesdays from 7:00pm - 10:00pm July 9th - August 27th *8 weeks* KICK A&% AUDITION WORK OUT with Lane Edwards Must complete Intro to Acting or have permission from instructor. This weekly workout is designed for working actors to sharpen their audition skills. Under the guidance of prolific actor Lane Edwards, students receive new sides to prepare every Tuesday, and they will be filmed two days later in their Thursday night class.
